getting better
No matter what the girls are sick with, they always look happy. This is nice, but also sometimes scary.
Rachel hearts carrots:

Anya lives in a land of books:

We saw a realtor this weekend. We can't move until July... but we are in the process of looking. The prices are crazy and this might not happen, but at least we are on the road to buying a crappy house. It sucks that we can't afford to live where we live anymore... if we buy. The prices in the city are so crazy, a house went for 600k around the corner and we can barely afford 300k, so we will see. Makes me want to move to Vermont or some place that I imagine is cheaper, but prolly isn't.
No more complaining from me. For now, know that any time you buy from the seamonsters store, the money goes directly to our crappy house fund!

so glad you are better! check out www.realtor.com. that's where we found our home!you can check any city and specify # of bedrooms, bathrooms, max price... it rocks.
we were living in brooklyn in the same situation. couldn't afford to buy, but we were able to check out the houses here in the Berkshires before we even made a trip up to look at them.
(and, yes, vermont IS probably cheaper...we're 10 minutes from vermont/mass border, our home is a 2,000sqft colonial and it cost us less than 100k...and we have the world's largest contemporary arts museum in our little town! you can get a killer victorian here for 250-350K.)

ugh. house hell. I am so sorry that houses are so hellishly expensive there in DC! Would a bigger apt or a two bedroom condo not maybe do the trick? I hate how expensive things have gotten there. Both because it means you can't live where you want and then it scares me from maybe trying to go back someday.
Glad you guys are feeling better. Your kids are killing me, they are so beautiful!

thanks for the comments suzy... glad to know we aren't the only ones in this situation!...
eileen... a bigger appartment would be just too expensive, plus we need to stop renting. a two bedroom condo anywhere in DC will cost 400k... we looked at some int he suburbs too... and they are about 280k, plus condo fees means they cost more than a house. it is crazy. it doesn't help that we spent all our savings on medical bills for the birth. ugh. we will end up living somewhere we don't want to live... but i am sure it won't last more than 5 years or so.
